BOY SCOUTS ADVANCED We read in the papers forty six Spartanburg County District Boy Scquts were awarded rank advancement and merit ibadges at the District Court' of Honor, the other evening at Southside Baptist Church. This recognition marks an event in the lives of these boys, establishing a conception of their relation to things and people around them, calculated to remain with them always. They have a sense of personal achievement—a success experience—it is quite of ten termied the beginning of a standard of conduct they are not likely to abandon. The Spartanburg District is one of the districts of the Palmetto Council Boy Scouts of America, and in that district there are more than four thousand scouts and increasing numbers of re cruits for Scouting. Brought up in scouting, boys are not apt to depart from their training. Per haps, adventure is the first appeal scouting has for the youngsters. Then he finds companionship— “buddies”—and a fraternal sense of honesty and decency. No organization is'more worthy of support and encouragement by those who are concerried with the bringing up of boys in the ways they should go than the Boy Scouts of America. Boys are the only < things men are made of.—Spartanburg Herald.
